Cross Country 2025

Update 8/11/2025:

Thank you for your interest in Cross Country! We’re excited to have your athletes on the team and can’t wait to get started. The best place to find information at any time about the Cross Country and Track Teams at both Prairie Knolls and Central Middle School is through this MSRun Website: https://msrun.central301.net/

Key details:

The first day of both school and practice is August 20th.
Athletes must be registered on the Arbiter Registration System.
Tryouts may be held depending on enrollment numbers.
Attendance at practice and meets is essential - these first few days especially so.
Athletes will be unable to participate in practice or tryouts unless a current physical has been submitted. No paper copies will be accepted; physicals must be uploaded through the Arbiter Registration System.

Practice Information (August 20th):

Start Time: 3:15pm at Prairie Knolls Middle School.

End Time: 5:00pm.

Pickup for all athletes will always be at Prairie Knolls Middle School.

Parent Meeting (August 20th):

Parents and guardians, please plan to attend the informational meeting immediately following practice (at 5:00pm) in the Prairie Knolls cafeteria.

What to bring,

Running shoes (trainer shoes with good cushioning - spikes are not needed on day one)

Appropriate athletic clothing for running in the current weather

Bring one or more filled water bottles and perhaps a light snack

For Prairie Knoll Students:

After the final bell, report to the cafeteria after school for a short study hall before coaches arrive for practice near 3:00pm. You will be allowed to change using the locker room after coaches have arrived.

For Central Middle School Students:

After the final bell, report directly to the cafeteria. If you need to change clothes, check in with the coach in the cafeteria first and then you may use the nearby locker room. All CMS Cross Country runners will then board a bus together that will transport them to Prairie Knolls MS for practice.

June Update

Hello all,

As we recently wrapped up two exciting weeks of summer, with Cross Country Camp followed by Track Camp, we wanted to share some key dates and reminders for the upcoming middle school cross country season.

August 20th, is both the first day of school and the first official day of Cross Country practice. This will be the first organized practice of the season. As that date approaches, more information will be available on this website. In the meantime, we strongly encourage interested runners to stay active and healthy. Consistent running over the summer before the official season begins is essential for cross country success. A recommended mileage guide for the summer along with a tentative season schedule is posted below.

To achieve consistency we recommend your try to make and stick to a routine. Whether it's a morning run to start the day or an evening run around sunset. Routine is key. We hope you will make a plan when to run, find some friends to run with, stay active, and enjoy the summer. As you're planning your runs this summer please refer to the suggested summer schedule below. There is a saying in cross country, "summer miles bring fall smiles."
