Welcome to the Home Page of Prairie Knolls / Central Middle School:
Cross Country and Track and Field
June 22nd, 2026
Hello,
We hope your summer is going well! We recently wrapped up an exciting week of summer with Cross Country Camp and so we wanted to share some key dates and reminders for the upcoming middle school cross country season.
August 13, is the first official day of Cross Country practice. This will be the first organized practice of the season. As that date approaches, more information will be available on this website. In the meantime, we strongly encourage interested runners to stay active and healthy. Consistent running over the summer before the official season begins is essential for cross country success. A recommended mileage guide for the summer along with a tentative season schedule is posted on the website.
Starting tomorrow, summer running opportunities are available for students to run with peers and coaches and we encourage all interested athletes to attend. Attendance at these summer running days is not mandatory however we highly recommend all join! The Central High School Cross Country Program organizes these practices and the middle school team is encouraged to join with them to run. Middle schoolers will run modified workouts that are tailored to their abilitty level and different from the high schoolers. Practices begin @ 6:30am and please be ready to pick athletes up by 7:45am unless communicated otherwise.
Time: Most Tuesdays & Thursdays @ 6:30am - 7:45am. Please see dates below.
Location: Great Western Trail Pavilion. LeRoy Oaks Forest Preserve, St. Charles, IL. Meet @ pavilion off Dean Street and Rt. 64. Entrance on the south side of Leroy just off Dean.
Summer running days are as follows:
June 23rd, June 25th
July 7th, July 9th, July 14th, July 16th, July 21st, July 23rd
August 4th, August 6th
These days are also highlighted in green on the summer running schedule below.
To achieve consistency we recommend you try to make and stick to a routine. Whether it's a morning run to start the day or an evening run around sunset. Routine is key. We hope you will make a plan when to run, find some friends to run with, stay active, and enjoy the summer. As you're planning your runs this summer please refer to the suggested summer schedule below. There is a saying in cross country, "summer miles bring fall smiles."
We look forward to seeing you all this fall! (And hopefully many days this summer as well!)
Enjoy the summer,
Coach Moehrlin, Coach Porter, Coach Jamrozek
